Biographie B.C. archives Katja Krahnstoever Born in Switzerland, Katja Krahnstoever lived at Klosters in Grisonne province where her family had lived for over 300 years. She and her husband Felix, left Switzerland and settled in Summerland, B.C. in 1932, where she has resided since. Mrs. Krahnstoever has been described as "no ordinary needlewoman - an artist in wool and silk". Her works record her impressions of people and events and she never tries to exceed its legitimate uses. She doesn't imitate paintings either in subject or technique but her work is more the less creative for that. She expresses her own ideas in her own way with the tools she has chosen for the task."
The needleworks here are but a sampling of the wide variety she has completed over the years and are amongst twelve works in our collection donated by the artist.
